YOU WILL NEED TO PUT THE SUGAR WAFFLE MOLD IN THE OVEN TO BAKE BEFORE USE , IN ORDER TO SEASON THEM. IF YOU DON’T SEASON THEM BEFORE USE, THE MIX WILL NOT COME OFF THE MOLD. HERE’S THE WAY TO SEASON THEM:
WASH THEM WITH SOAP AND WATER AND DRY THOROUGHLY FIRST.
THEN, COAT THE MOLDS COMPLETELY (INSIDE AND OUT) WITH A SOLID SHORTENING. (NOT LIQUID) MAKE SURE IT’S COATED GOOD.
PLACE THE COATED MOLD IN A PAN THAT’S DEEP ENOUGH TO HOLD THE SHORTENING THAT WILL COME OFF THE MOLD AS IT BAKES TO AVOID CAUSING A FIRE.
PUT THE MOLD IN THE OVEN AND BAKE AT 400 DEGREES FOR 30 MINUTES.
REMOVE FROM THE OVEN, LET COOL. AFTER IT HAS COOLED, WASH IT THOUROUGHLY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
THIS USUALLY SEASONS THEM GOOD ENOUGH AND THE MIX WON’T STICK TO THE MOLD. HOWEVER, IF IT DOES YOU WILL NEED TO DO THIS AGAIN
